Project construction updates   

Brookings County-Hampton 345 kV project

The final segments of the line were placed in service in March, 2015. Crews will continue restoration efforts along the transmission line and finish installing interphase spacers between June and September 2015 between the Helena Substation west of New Prague and the Lyon County Substation northeast of Marshall.

Fargo-St. Cloud 345 kV project

The final segment of the project was placed in service in April, 2015. Final restoration efforts will take place between June and September between Barnesville and Fergus Falls.

Hampton-Rochester La Crosse project

The North Rochester to Northern Hills 161 kV line is complete. The line was energized in May 2014. Construction on the North Rochester to Mississippi River segment is also complete, as well as the Mississippi River crossing near Alma. Structure erection and stringing is ongoing in Wisconsin with completion of the 50-mile Wisconsin segment scheduled for early fall. Foundation construction is complete on the Chester 161 kV line east of Rochester. Structure setting will begin in September. Foundation work is underway along the Hampton to North Rochester segment.

Big Stone South-Brookings County 345 kV project

Work on the Big Stone South-Brookings County 345 kilovolt (kV) transmission line is kicking off in August. Surveying, staking, improving minimum maintenance roads, preparing laydown yards and tree clearing will start in August 2015, followed by foundation construction in November 2015.
