CapX2020 Sourcing Efforts Progress

July 13, 2009 – CapX2020 is in the early phases of execution to design, engineer and construct nearly 700 miles of 345 and 230 kilovolt transmission lines, including the modification and new construction of more than 15 substations. The resourcing effort, as part of the CapX2020 Project Management Office (PMO), is currently developing procurement plans, which will be used to facilitate the development of RFPs and requests for quotes (RFQs) for each of the major service and material categories. The PMO expects to begin issuing requests for proposals (RFPs) during the third quarter of 2009, with sourcing activity remaining heavy throughout 2010. These early activities are intended to keep the projects in a position to meet the published in-service dates. Construction start dates and financial commitments remain contingent on formal granting of each project’s route permit.
